Huffhines Art Trails

Featured Artist: Terri Vogl

Terri VoglI am a self taught artist. I have always loved drawing, painting and crafting, but never really took it seriously....that is until I turned 50! There is just something about those big milestone birthdays that cause us to take a look at our lives and think about whether or not we should do things differently. So at age 50 I began taking art seriously. I took drawing and painting classes and began painting as much as my schedule would allow. I discovered that it takes a lot of hard work to become good at something, but if you love what you are doing it's more fun than work.

My art is a little bit non is all done on plywood panels. I use acrylic paint and in many cases add extras such as crackle paste and paper. A good term to describe my art is "Modern Farmhouse". I grew up visiting my grandparents at their farm in Columbus, Texas. I have so many wonderful memories from that time and now most of my inspiration comes from rural Texas. I often stop and take photos as I drive along country roads and then use those photos as the inspiration for most of my art.
